TOPIC: Introduction to Toolbox Talks
What is a “Toolbox Talk”? An informal group discussion that focuses on a specific safety issue. This could include work-related safety or at-home safety tips.
The goal is to have a brief discussion regarding the topic of the week, to keep safety in front of everyone’s mind before they start their workweek. These talks do not replace OSHA required training but serves as a good opportunity to talk about recent safety issues, best practices, and assist in communicating upcoming changes.
These should be done at the beginning of each week and included on Shift Reports that we are completing them. Keep the discussions open-ended for questions and feedback, along with the mindset that everyone should return home to their families safely. Be engaged, be focused, and look out for your co-workers!
Any ideas on site-specific toolbox talks? Let your Supervisor, Safety Manager, Safety Committee member, or another member of leadership know so we can work together to develop!
Thank you and have a safe day!
